Getting There From Brickell, Wynwood, the Arsht Area and the Beach

• From Wynwood: a quick 5-minute drive or rideshare east along NE 16th Street. If you've spent the evening looking at murals or galleries, this is the shortest hop on the list.
• From Downtown and Brickell: head north on Biscayne Boulevard, about 10 minutes depending on traffic. People searching for a speakeasy in Brickell often don't realize how close Edgewater is once the rush hour thins out.

This is the part most people get wrong. Kaona Room isn't a walk-up bar. Walk-ins are welcome when space permits, but with 45 seats there's no guaranteed entry, especially on weekends. If the plan is dinner or a show first and cocktails second, book the second half before you leave the house.

A few things worth knowing when you pick a time:

• We're open Wed & Thu 6PM–1AM, Fri–Sat 6PM–2AM, and closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, so the plan only works Wednesday through Saturday.
• Prime 8–10PM slots disappear first. If your show or dinner runs late, a later booking is often easier to land anyway.
• Friday and Saturday evenings regularly sell out a week or more in advance, so book 1–2 weeks ahead for a weekend. Weeknights are usually available with a few days' notice.
• We hold your table for 15 minutes past your reservation time. If you're coming from a show with an uncertain end, give yourself a cushion when you choose the slot.
• Plans change. Please cancel at least 2 hours before your reservation, or at least 24 hours ahead for parties of 6 or more.

Bookings run through SevenRooms on the reservations page, the confirmation arrives the moment you finish, and online reservations cover parties of up to 6. Anything bigger, like a birthday crew or a team night out after a conference downtown, goes through private events instead. Entry is 21+ with a valid government-issued ID, and there's no cover charge.

What to Order When You Walk In Late

If dinner was earlier in the evening, you'll want a couple of bites alongside the drinks. The small plates on the menu are built for exactly that: Coconut Shrimp with mango chutney at $16, a Poke Bowl with ahi tuna and ponzu at $18, and the Tropical Ceviche with plantain chips at $16.

For the first drink, start with The Kaona at $20, the signature rum cocktail, and ask the bartender for the story behind it. If you came off a long day at the beach and want something easy, the Painkiller at $16 (Pusser's Navy rum, coconut, pineapple, orange and fresh nutmeg) is about as close to a vacation in a glass as it gets.
